Monrovia–National Port Authority (NPA) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to education and national development through a very strategic intervention with the University of Liberia (UL).
In a high-level meeting held at the NPA Headquarters on September 29, 2025, the President of the University of Liberia, Dr. Layli Maparyan, met with the Managing Director of the National Port Authority, Hon. Sekou A.M. Dukuly. The meeting centered around finding a lasting solution to the long-standing problem of inadequate seating for students at Liberia University of Liberia.
Welcoming the President of the University of Liberia Dr. Layli Maparyan to the National Port Authority Hon. Sekou A. M. Dukuly emphasized the National Port Authority’s committed in contributing to the needs of the University aim at creating an enabling learning environment for all students. The NPA boss then pledged an initial contribution of US$25,000 toward procuring chairs for UL students. At the same time, assured the UL family of galvanizing the business community and partners of the Port Authority raising additional resources that will help mitigate some of the problems being faced by the UL administration.
Meanwhile, Hon. Dukuly has announced plans for future collaboration between the NPA and UL, particularly in training NPA staff for enhanced professional development and operational efficiency.
Expressing deep appreciation, UL President, Dr. Maparyan lauded Hon. Dukuly and team for his transformational leadership at the NPA and for extending the Authority’s hands of support and partnership to UL at such a critical moment.
Dr. Maparyan said the NPA’s action does not only delivers immediate relief but also signals a powerful message that education remains at the heart of Liberia’s development, and national institutions.
The meeting was attended by senior executives of the NPA including Hon. Emmanuel Horton, Deputy Managing Director for Operations, Mr. Sekou B. Kolleh, Executive Director for Governmental & International Affairs, and Madam Vashti Sirleaf, Executive Director for Human Resource, among others.
