Mayama entered America on a visitor’s visa in 2014 and married a U.S. citizen. A year later, she applied for permanent residency. During her immigration interview, she denied her involvement in the Liberian Civil War. After it was established that she is the famous Black Diamond of 2003, she was ordered to be deported back to Liberia.
According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), her deportation reflects a broader commitment to preventing human rights violators from finding safe haven in the United States. While no criminal charges were filed against her in the U.S., her past actions and misrepresentations during the immigration process led to her removal. Her return to Liberia now raises questions about what legal or societal response she may face in her home country.
