Liberia Defeats Namibia 3-1 in World Cup Qualifier

By: Sylvester Tamba

The Lone Stars got off to a flying start when Ayouba Koisah converted a penalty in the early minutes of the match, putting the home side ahead and sending the fans into early celebration.

Namibia struggled to recover from the early setbacks, and Liberia capitalized further when Edward Ledluam added a third goal with a high-quality finish, effectively sealing the victory. The visitors managed to pull one goal back late in the match, but it proved too little, too late.

The 3-1 win lifts Liberia to 14 points in Group [insert group letter], though they remain in third place—just one point behind Namibia, who are on 15 points despite the loss.

With two matchdays remaining in the qualifying campaign, Liberia’s hopes of reaching the 2026 FIFA World Cup remain alive, but they will need to continue winning and rely on results elsewhere to secure one of the automatic qualification spots.

Liberia’s next match is a crucial away fixture against Equatorial Guinea on October 13 in Malabo. A victory there could see them move up the standings, depending on other results in the group.
