Monrovia —The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Liberia is pleased to announce that Liberia formally joined other countries to sign the Declaration on the Protection of Humanitarian Personnel, on September 22, 2025 on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The Declaration adds to the numerous international instruments on protecting aid workers in times of conflicts. It aims to make humanitarian workers safer and more respected under international law, especially local and national staff, who often face the greatest danger during conflicts.
The Declaration was championed by a Ministerial Group led by Australia, Jordan, Switzerland, Indonesia, Sierra Leone, the United Kingdom, Japan, Brazil and Colombia.
